I check my image against a restaurant window slumped forward under a pack-- just another local character. But I square my shoulders and walk home-- bad posture wants no witness.

Neither have I, Corinne. We are all so busy carrying one kind of burden or another that metaphors--our weak attempts to describe psychic, spiritual and circumstantial heaviness--are sometimes all we have.
